In November 2006 CEFE got serious about grant_applications. Over the years CEFE has had a high success rate in obtaining grants under various local, state and federal government programs as well as private foundations. Initial grants enabled CEFE to establish an office in Bega with a paid administrator. A federal government Green Precincts grant in 2008 enabled CEFE to undertake a major feasibility study into a solar farm for the South East. In 2013 CEFE obtained a grant to establish ClearSky Solar Investments – a not for profit that enables community members without access to a suitable roof to invest in solar PV on commercial buildings. The Tathra IMAGINE solar farm was completed with the assistance of a grant from Bega Valley Shire Council. Some of the fund raising events such as big-swims have been matched dollar for dollar by local councils.
